She had come up with a project on automatic irrigation system

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had an interaction through video conference with K. Jeevitha Bethukani, 14, studying in Class X in the Subbiah Vidyalayam Girls Higher Secondary School here on Wednesday.

Miss Jeevitha has come up with a project, ‘Automatic water irrigation system powered by solar panel,’ at Atal Tinkering Lab set up in her school under the Centre’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), which is intended to identify student innovators.

The school was ranked in 2017-18 as one among the top 30 in the country with students with innovative ideas.

After greeting the Prime Minister, the girl introduced herself. Mr. Modi asked her to explain how she developed new ideas and converted them into a meaningful project.

The girl said the project was aimed at benefiting farmers.

To a question from Mr. Modi, she said students were using Atal Tinkering Lab for two periods a week.

“The lab is equipped with modern gadgets such as CD printer, robotic and arduino board,” she said.

To another question on how they experienced significant changes with the advent of the lab, she said the students, who worked in groups, came up with fresh ideas to create projects. After listening to her, Mr. Modi congratulated her and encouraged the students to come up with more new ideas, she told The Hindu.
