Across Maharashtra, 17.85 lakh students — 9.73 lakh boys and 7.78 lakh girls — appeared for the SSC exams, held from March 1 to 24.

This year, the state board recruited more staff for its flying squads, so as to conduct surprise checks at exam centres every day and curb malpractices and cheating during exams. Despite that, five incidents of paper leak were reported during the exams. The board, however, insisted that the paper leak was in control and did not hold any re-examinations.
