Two masons killed by sand-laden truck in Malda, decomposed body of teenagers found in Bankura

The eyewitnesses said the two victims, masons, while on their way to work on their two-wheeler, were run over by a sand-laden truck.

MALDA: Traffic between Kolkata and north Bengal and beyond was affected for some hours early today after the irate mob blocked the NH 34 to protest the run over of two part-time labourers by a sand-laden truck at Banspukur under English Bazar of this district, official sources said.

The two were declared brought dead at the Malda Medical College Hospital. The eyewitnesses said the two victims, masons, while on their way to work on their two-wheeler, were run over by a sand-laden truck this morning.

The truck driver ran away with his vehicle provoking the local people to stage a demonstration and blocked the highway, Later police arrived and persuaded the mob to lift the blockade.

A separate report from Bankura today said that the decomposed bodies of a teenage girl and her boyfriend, who went missing for past 10 days, were today found from a jungle near Joypur of this West Bengal district.

Official sources said that some local people after having foul smelling called the police, who found the decomposed bodies of the unmarried couple, who had been missing for nearly ten days.
