A Madison Heights woman sustained severe injuries in an alleged assault by her fiance in Clare County that included the use of a chainsaw, the Michigan State Police reported.

The woman, 38, was allegedly assaulted by her fiance, a 47-year-old Clinton Township man, who also used fire, and his hands and feet in the assault that occurred in the Village of Temple in Clare County.

On Thursday, troopers from the state police were sent to the emergency room at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital, where the victim had been transported after she fled the scene of the assault on foot and was picked up by a passerby who willingly transported the victim to a local EMS station in the Marion area.
