Heavy rains lash Mumbai: Dos and Don'ts to stay safe during the monsoon
Possibility of flooding is high
Several areas of Mumbai like Hindmata, Worli were highly affected and also left people stranded on the roads as heavy rains lash the city. The IMD has predicted very heavy rainfall on June 9 and June 10. Intermittent rain is likely to occur in the city and suburbs in the next 24 hours.
The rains have already caused waterlogging in many parts of Mumbai, especially in low lying areas. Possibility of flooding is also high. Here's a list of dos and don'ts to follow during this time:

Stay indoors
It is obviously always better to stay indoors as far as possible during heavy rain. Do not go out, do not - especially - allow children, the disabled and the aged outdoors.
If you live near the water, it is better to go away temporarily and stay with family or friends who live up-water.

Be extremely careful with hygiene
Be very careful about not eating food that has been exposed to rain water or leaky roofs. Drink boiled and/or chlorinated water, tweeted the NDMA.
Avoid areas that have open drains, gutters as they are chockfull of disease. If you come into contact with dirty water, clean up immediately.

Be wary of live wires
Stay clear of electric poles that have fallen or exposed power lines. Get rid of faulty electrical equipment. Avoid using electrical appliances when in wet conditions like under a leaky roof or wet ground.
Don't just keep everything charged, keep even battery backups charged. Make sure you have extra batteries for your torch. Get extra torches while you're at it. Charge your back- up batteries and power banks too.
