Nagpur: Inspector general, state police administration and former joint CP Anup Kumar Singh inaugurated two
petrol pumps under the ‘Police welfare fuel stations’ scheme on Katol Road and also near State CID office near Jafar Nagar on Tuesday.
The scheme has been developed and implemented with the objective of welfare for police department, in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).
During the inauguration of the joint venture, several top officials of IOCL were present along with city police top brass. It’s learnt that the venture has been devised in partnership with IOCL to facilitate a steady income source for the police welfare fund.
In this first-of-its-kind initiative under police commissioner K Venkatesham and joint CP Shivaji Bodkhe, the family members of the police department will be preferred for employments.
After Katol Road and Jafar Nagar, a third such fuel station under the police-IOCL partnership is set to come up near Ajni police station soon.
Singh, who served in the city for seven years, assured to extend every possible assistance to the city police welfare fund. Extolling various initiatives undertaken by Venkatesham, Singh said there had been a remarkable change in the functioning and image of the police department in comparison to the past.
He lauded the efforts of the police top brass to start an air-conditioned library for the police families, lawn for family functions and other such initiatives.
