GME’s Grand Cherokee SRT Has 620PS, More Powerful Versions Coming

With its 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine that pushes out 468PS (461hp / 344kW) in stock form, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT has plenty of power to take its occupants pretty much everywhere they desire.

However, as the old dictum goes, there’s no such thing as too much power. Thus, GME (German Motors & Engineering) upped the Grand Cherokee SRT’s output to a more substantial 620PS (611hp / 456kW) and 756Nm (558lb-ft) of torque.

The extra muscle comes courtesy of a compressor kit and a large intercooler. The aftermarket specialist has also optimized the ECU and fuel injection system and installed a stainless steel flap exhaust system with 114mm (4.5in) tailpipes, which can be had in polished or, optionally, carbon finish.

Stopping power is provided by 8-piston brake calipers with 400mm (15.7in) discs on the front axle and 4-piston calipers with 356mm (14in) discs on the rear.

The last mechanical upgrade is the addition of an electronically adjustable suspension with sports springs from Bilstein, which lowers the ride height by 15mm (0.6in) at the front and 30mm (1.18in) at the rear. GME also offers an individually adjustable sports suspension on request.

Other work carried on the ‘Trackhawk alternative’, as the tuner refers to it, includes the murdered-out exterior, along with the new two-part forged rims that were designed in-house. The wheels are optionally available in 20- and 22-inch and in several finishes.

GME will sell you their tuned Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT from €98,900 ($116,273) in Europe. But, in case anyone wants more, they have also announced more powerful variants, with outputs ranging between 850PS (838hp / 625kW) and 1,000PS (986hp / 736kW).

An SUV with 1,000 PS? Any way you slice it, that should be really interesting, to say the least.
