NEW PHILADELPHIA The case against a 27-year-old man accused of stabbing a 25-year-old man in Bolivar on Saturday night has been bound over to the Tuscarawas County Grand Jury.

Frankie E. Lockett, Jr., waived his right to a preliminary hearing in New Philadelphia Municipal Court on Thursday. Acting Judge Christine Weimer sent the case to the grand jury. Lockett has been charged with felonious assault. Bolivar Police Chief Randall Haugh said he expects an additional charge of assault on a police officer because Lockett kicked a cruiser door, which then knocked an officer off his feet at the Tuscarawas County Jail.

Also in court, Weimer reduced Lockett's $50,000 bail to his personal recognizance. Other terms of his release include his residence with a woman in Newcomerstown. He was ordered to have no contact with the stabbing victim, who lives on Pleasant Alley SW in Bolivar where the incident occurred. Lockett is prohibited from having any deadly weapons, is to make an appointment with a mental health service provider, and avoid alcohol and drugs of abuse.
