Andrew White of GlenOak High School successfully defended his state discus title last Saturday at the Ohio High School Track and Field Championships in Columbus.
White, a senior who will be throwing for Wake Forest next year, claimed the title with a throw of 194 feet, 9 inches.
White has been coached in the discus the past four years by 2001 Dover High School graduate Ben Hughes. Hughes is an Advanced Placement history teacher at GlenOak.
Earlier in the season White set a Stark County record for the discus with a toss of 204-9. White was also a member of the GlenOak 4x100 relay team that finished fourth at the state meet.
