The 2018 World Cup kicks off on Thursday, June 14 when host country Russia plays Saudi Arabia in a Group A match. Russia last played in 2014 in Brazil, while Saudi Arabia missed both the Brazilian and South American tournaments, last qualifying for 2006 in Germany. Russia comes into the tournament having lost or tied their last 5 international matches, and is the lowest-ranked team out of the 32 teams. Look for Mohammad Al-Sahlawi to be a difference-maker for Saudi Arabia, having scored 16 goals in the qualifying matches to help the team reach the World Cup.
The game at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow starts at 6 p.m. local time, or 11 a.m. Eastern (8 a.m. Pacific). You can watch it live on Fox in English, or Telemundo in Spanish and if you don't have cable you can stream it via Hulu with Live TV, or watch the game in both English and Spanish on fuboTV.
Russia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Uruguay comprise the Group A teams. Two of the teams will move on to the knockout stages beginning June 30th.
