TN to expand Chennai Trade Centre at Rs 289 Cr: Minister

: government has allocated land for taking up expansion of Trade Centre at a cost of Rs 289 crore and a detailed project report was submitted to the seeking its approval, M C Sampath said here today.

Trade Promotion Organisation proposed to expand Trade Centre with additional space of 15,708 square metres. The government has given permission for additional 9.13 acres of land to TNTPO, he informed the Assembly.

"This expansion project will be taken up at an estimated project cost of Rs 289 crore. A detailed project report has been prepared and submitted to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for the approval," he said.

A financial assistance of Rs 10 crore has been received from the Centre for the project, he said.

Trade Centre set up in 2001 is currently spread across 25.48 acres land at Nandambakkam. It was set up by Trade Promotion Organisation and
