A 35-year-old suspended police sub-inspector, detained in connection with a rape case, managed to escape from police custody today before being caught from the Mahesh nagar area, a senior official said.
The accused, Ashok Singh Chaudhary, hit and pushed the policeman and escaped from the Kanota police station. After a few hours, he was traced in the Mahesh nagar locality and was arrested, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Bassi) Pushpendra Singh said.
He was detained last night in connection with a rape case lodged against him by a woman cop nearly a month ago in the Kanota police station.
The accused sub-inspector was suspended in connection with some other case nearly two months ago.
