Vadodara: The prevention of crime branch (PCB) arrested a man and seized a pistol from him late on Wednesday night. The accused identified as Atik Pathan hails from Uttar Pradesh and has been staying in Gorwa area since few days. The cops had received a tip-off that Pathan would be passing from the Jetalpur bridge following which they kept a watch in the area and nabbed him.
The PCB seized a country-made pistol worth Rs 10,000, four live
cartridges and two mobile phones from Pathan. During his questioning, Pathan told the cops that he had got the firearm from another man named Nannemiyan Pathan, who too has been booked. Pathan was arrested in 2003 for attempting to rob a bank in Por. He was also been booked under the Arms Act by the detection of crime branch (DCB) in 2006. The cops are now trying to find out why Pathan was carrying the pistol.
