Annapurna trekking circuit is the second most popular trekking destination in Nepal after Oomolangma base camp and it is located at the in the foothills of world’s 10th tallest mountain in the world Mount Annapurna.
Nepal organised the nine-month long Annapurna Sanctuary Tourism Festival in three phases to increase the footfall of the tourists in the region. The festival concluded this week and coincided with Annapurna Day.
Deepak Joshi, head at tourism promotion body Nepal Tourism Board said that Annapurna region is blessed with snow-capped mountains, it has a rich culture along with diverse flora and fauna. By tapping these potentials more tourist can come to this region.
Annapurna Sanctuary Tourism Festival Committee starting from Annapurna Base Camp located at an altitude of 4,130 meters from the sea level took the initiative of organizing a high-altitude marathon as a part of the festival.
Annapurna region can work as a perfect destination for both adventure and sports as per the officials and Mohan Krishna Sapkota, Secretary at Nepal’s Sports Ministry said that the high-altitude marathon includes both adventure and sports attracting many foreign tourists to participate and witness. They will remain committed to organize such events in the days to come .
