THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The ambitious digital hub project of Japanese automotive major
Nissan Motors took off on Wednesday with the state government deciding to lease out 30 acres for it on
Technocity campus here. An
MoU will be signed between Nissan and the state IT department in this regard soon.
The state cabinet, which met here on Wednesday, approved the IT department proposal to allot space for the project. The digital hub will function as the nerve centre of the automobile giant’s research in electric and automated vehicles. The company will immediately begin functioning at Yamuna building on Technopark phase III campus.
Sources said around 3000 professionals, most of them specialists in high-end technologies, would be employed in the
Thiruvananthapuram facility in the first three years.
The entry of Nissan is also expected to bring in a few other big names in the industry. Tech Mahindra is learnt to have begun talks to set up a facility here while C-DAC has also plans to upgrade its facility here.
