ALWAR: Fifty four-year-old Laxmi Devi, a native of Lakshya Ka Baas near Pinan in Alwar district, was elated on Thursday morning. It was Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who not only took her name but also asked about her well-being at the district Collectorate here through video conferencing by NAMO app.
Laxmi Devi’s family was struggling to arrange for funds while they had to get her operated for her knee block. “Both her knees were blocked and she was unable to walk properly. Thus, she needed an operation,” said Laxmi while talking to TOI.

Dinesh, son of Laxmi, said that they came to know about the Centre’s Prime Minister’s scheme through which her mother got operated in Rs 60,000 only.

Prime Mininster Modi, through video conferencing, asked, “Namaskar. Kaise hain aap ab (how are you now).” To this the shy looking Laxmi Devi, replied, “Aap to mere bhagwan ho, main theek hun (You are my god, I am fine now).”

Laxmi along with her son and some officers at the district collectorate were waiting since 10 am to get connected to the Prime Minister. At 10.15 am both got connected.

“Initially, we visited a few hospitals where for the operation Rs 3.5 lakh was demanded. However, through NAMO app and other enquires, we came to know about Centre’s scheme through which my mother got operated by paying merely Rs 60,000,” said Dinesh.

Chief medical and health officer (CMHO), Alwar, said that people should refrain from visiting private hospitals and should take optimum use of government schemes.
