PATNA: At least 6.31 lakh of the total 11.92 lakh students passed the Class XII exam conducted by the
Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) this year. The pass percentage remained 52.95%, up 17.71% in comparison to last year.
While 92,726 students secured first division, over 4.3 lakh passed with a second division and 99,395 with a third division. At least 5.5 lakh students flunked.
The results were announced by state education minister Krishnanandan Prasad Verma, principal secretary (education) R K Mahajan and BSEB chairman Anand Kishor at the BSEB HQ in Patna on Wednesday evening.

Commerce’s topper Nidhi Sinha of Muzaffarpur also scored 434/500. Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya-Jamui’s Kusum Kumari topped among the arts students with a score of 424/500.
Boys could draw some solace from the fact their pass percentage of 30.47 was better than girls’ 22.48%.
While 1,009 students had been expelled for using unfair means, results of seven candidates have been withheld and those of 3,468 candidates declared incomplete due to various reasons.
Kishor told media persons the exam was conducted under the CCTV surveillance and strict monitoring of invigilators. Students unsatisfied with their results can apply for scrutiny of their papers. The scrutiny forms will be sold at the BSEB’s regional centres at Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur,
Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Purnia, Chappra, Munger and Saharsa from June 13 to 20. Such students can also apply at the BSEB’s official website — www.biharboard.ac.in.
The examination started on February 6 and ended on February 16. The practicals were held earlier from January 11 to 25.
