18-month-old boy falls from second floor , dies

CHANDIGARH: An 18-month-old boy died after falling from the second floor of a house in Bapu Dham Colony, Sector 26, on Monday.
Deepak was playing with other children when the incident took place. He was the only son of his parents. Satish Kumar, DSP, east division, said police received information from PGI that a boy had succumbed to his injuries after falling from the second floor.




In his statement, father Moti Lal said Deepak was playing with other children when he suddenly fell down. Family members have not held anybody responsible for the death. Police have also ruled out foul play in the incident.

Footage from CCTV cameras installed near the house showed the boy’s head struck the road. People gathered at the spot and took him to Government Multi-specialty Hospital, Sector 16, from where he was referred to PGI. After battling for his life for nine hours, Deepak succumbed to his injuries around 11pm.

Moti Lal is living in a rented accommodation and works as an auto driver in the city. He was out for work and his wife was cooking food when the accident took place.

Police registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC and initiated inquest proceeding. The cremation took place on Tuesday.
