RLD to celebrate Kairana win with gala Roza Iftar

Oppostion unity will be on display with the Rashtriya Lok Dal planning a gala Roza Iftar party at its State headquarters in Lucknow on Wednesday.  While the ‘star attraction’ of the Iftar party is set to be recently elected Lok Sabha MP from Kairana, Tabassum Hasan, senior leaders of different like-minded parties like Samajwadi Party, Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party are also expected to attend the party.

“Invitations have been given to leaders of all political parties and we expect most of them to attend the function in which our sole MP cfrom UP, Tabassum Hasan will be present,” a RLD office-bearer said.

The leader said that this was the fourth important occasion when an Iftar party was being organised at the RLD State headquarters. “On two previous occasions, Chaudhary Ajeet Singh attended Iftar party while once, party vice-president Jayant Chaudhary hosted the party,” said a RLD sympathiser.

“The RLD will be celebrating its win in Kairana byelection after a long gap. It is also for the win of first Muslim woman MP from the State since 2014,” he said.

Party sources said that RLD leaders were unanimous in strengthening it base in west UP and among the Muslims. “So some decision to address this may be taken in the time to come,” the leader said.

Sources also said that the RLD had salvaged some of its lost price by the win at Kairana Lok Sabha bypoll.
