BALDWIN PARK — Authorities say two men prompted a standoff with a Florida SWAT team after setting off homemade explosives.
The Orlando Sentinel reports a 57-year-old and a 35-year-old were taken into custody Tuesday near Baldwin Park.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to the area Tuesday morning after neighbors reported hearing an explosion. Officials say the men, who weren't immediately named, had made two improvised "acid bombs," which were plastic bottles filled with reactive chemicals that explode when mixed.
The men had initially come out of the home when deputies arrived, but authorities say the younger man ran back inside, prompting the standoff. He eventually surrendered.
Officials say the men face charges of manufacturing or discharging an explosive device. Two others were also taken into custody, but it wasn't clear what charges they might face.
