Vice President Mike Pence will join Bill Schuette in Birmingham on June 15.
According to John Sellek, Schuette’s campaign strategist, Pence will attend the Republican gubernatorial candidate’s private campaign fundraiser at the Townsend Hotel on Friday afternoon.
Schuette is currently the frontrunner in the field of Republican candidates for governor, according to a recent Detroit Regional Chamber poll.
Neither Sellek, nor Sofia Boza, director of strategic media for the office of the vice president, would confirm if Pence will attend, or host, any public events while in Michigan.
Boza said more details about Pence’s visit to Michigan would be released next week.
“It is tremendous that Vice President Mike Pence is coming to Michigan to help my campaign for governor,” said Schuette. “It will be an exciting day for Michigan and one more reason why we are ahead and we will win on primary day in August.”
