2019 Sierra Elevation Is GMC ‘s Take On A Sporty Pickup

The 2019 GMC Sierra won’t go on sale until the fall but that hasn’t stopped the company from introducing the new Elevation variant.

Based on the double cab version of the all-new pickup, the Sierra Elevation features body-color bumpers, door handles and a grille surround. This monochromatic look is contrasted by black window trim and black 20-inch aluminum wheels. The truck also has tow hooks and a unique grille which features black and chrome bars.

Designers also installed LED headlights with C-shaped running lights. Elsewhere, there are LED fog lights and C-shaped LED elements in the taillights.

GMC didn’t say much else about the truck but it will come equipped with a Traction Select System and an 8-inch infotainment system featuring Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

Can be equipped with an off-road package

An assortment of options will be available including the X31 Off Road package which adds a locking rear differential and a unique suspension with Rancho shocks. The package also includes a heavy-duty air filter, a dual exhaust system, a two-speed transfer case and all-terrain tires. Other highlights include underbody skid plates and a Hill Descent Control system.

Customers can also order the optional ProGrade Trailering System which includes a tire pressure and temperature monitoring system for the trailer. The package also provides access to an app designed to take the “guesswork out of connecting and towing a trailer.”

Will be offered with three engines

The Sierra Elevation comes standard with a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 310 hp (231 kW / 314 PS) and 348 lb-ft (471 Nm) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission which can be paired to an optional four-wheel drive system.

The truck can also be equipped with a 5.3-liter V8 producing 355 hp (265 kW / 360 PS) and 383 lb-ft (519 Nm) of torque. Early next year, the Sierra Elevation will be offered with a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel six-cylinder engine that is connected to a ten-speed automatic transmission.
