KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Forests and Environment has continued its cleanliness programme in the capital city, today.

The cleanliness drive that began from Tundikhel area passed through Bhadrakali temple, Singha Durbar west gate, Maitighar Mandala, and Babarmahal before concluding near the southern entrance to Singha Durbar.

The programme supported by ‘We Love You Foundation’ was headed by the Minister for Forests and Environment Shakti Bahadur Basnet. He joined the campaign wearing a mask and carrying a broom.

As he saw piles of waste in front of the central office of Rastriya Banijya Bank and Rastriya Beema Sansthan, he reportedly summoned the employees of both offices and told them to immediately clear off the garbage, warning them that they would be fined if this was repeated.

Canteens inside and outside Singha Durbar area were also asked to maintain hygienic practices.

The Ministry has launched ‘Nepal Clean Environment Campaign’ since Tuesday marking the World Environment Day. It has appealed to the mass for their support and cooperation in making this campaign a success.
