Jaipur police arrested a 38-year-old man on Wednesday for stealing over 100 luxury four-wheelers in the last one and half years.

Ramesh alias Rahul Meena (38), hailing from Dausa, was arrested by police while he was trying to steal a motorcycle. Additional DCP (South) Manoj Chaudhary said information was collated and a special team was formed to nab the accused.

“Over the last two years, there has been an increase in the theft of four-wheelers in the city. We made special teams to look into the matter. The Mansarovar special team caught Meena, who is an infamous vehicle thief,” ADCP Chaudhary said.

Police said that they recovered two plans depicting how to break cars’ locks, 23 magnetic chips, two keys taped to a magnetic chip, two key-remotes and seven mobile phones. Apart from that, police also recovered three stolen cars and a motorcycle from Meena.

“Meena has stolen over 40 cars from the area under Jaipur commissionerate and over 60 luxury cars from Delhi in the last 16 months,” Chaudhary said.

“Most of the vehicles we have recovered are 2010 models or older. He usually used a master key to open the doors of these cars. However, we are interrogating him about the magnetic chips. There is a possibility that he might have used them to open the locks of the newer models. We are investigating it and will find out soon,” ACP Mansarovar Deepak Kumar said.

Police said that Meena built a house and bought gold ornaments from the money he got after selling these stolen cars.
