Mumbai civic body on high alert, direct officials to work on holidays

The civic body has directed all seven deputy municipal commissioners, 24 ward officers and concern head of departments to be available in headquarters, even on holidays.

With extremely heavy rainfall warning by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) from June 9 to June 11, the BMC is on high alert.

The civic body has directed all seven deputy municipal commissioners, 24 ward officers and concern head of departments to be available in headquarters, even on holidays.

In addition, three teams of National Disaster response force are on alert at three areas in the city - Parel, Mankhurd and Andheri with flood rescue equipment. The Navy has also been positioned at Colaba, Worli, Ghatkopar, Trombay and Malad for flood rescue if required.

Six fire brigade flood rescue teams along with City Disaster Response Force and police are deployed on six beaches across the city.
