MYSURU: In what may fuel intense debate further, BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa on Tuesday dared his political bete noire and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to dissolve assembly and face elections again.
Addressing the gathering at a programme organised to thank people of Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Mandya and Hassan districts for supporting the party in the recently concluded elections, Yeddyurappa who reiterated the party’s failure to gain a good number of seats to reach the majority mark to hold the reins of power, however, exuded confidence that the party would definitely win 150 seats if the elections are to be held again within a span of three months.
Taking severe exception to the recent remarks of his successor Kumaraswamy, who had made a mention of him (BSY) spending lakhs of rupees on using chopper within three days of holding office as chief minister, Yeddyurappa who offered to foot the bill of Rs 13 lakh from his own pocket, however, said, “I will raise the issue on the floor of the house’, alluding at the stormy session in the making. Yeddyurappa who termed it a deliberate attempt to malign him and put him in the dock, also sought an apology from Kumaraswamy in this regard.
Open letter
Not willing to let go it off easily, Yeddyurappa who denied that he preferred to fly on his own on that day, said,”I will be sending a befitting reply to the chief minister through an open letter where I will be explaining it in detail. When the Governor asked me to continue as the chief minister till further arrangements, it was the chief secretary who looked after the travel arrangements, as a state funeral had been planned for the seer,” said Yeddyurappa.“Am I a commission agent or the father-son duo the progenies of ‘Satya Harishchandra,” said Yeddyurappa.
