Will Benson hits two home runs in Captains’ win over Dayton

Right fielder Will Benson hit two home runs, including a grand slam, and the Captains beat visiting Dayton, 8-5, on June 6.

Lake County (24-35) has won two in a row and scored a combined 18 runs in the victories.

Benson finished with five RBI. He has 11 home runs and 25 RBI for the season.

Shortstop Ernie Clement also homered for the Captains, who posted five runs in the first inning.

Starter Gregori Vasquez (2-2) went seven innings. He gave up five runs (three earned), struck out five and walked one.

The Captains will be looking for a series sweep at 7 p.m. June 7. Lefty Francisco Perez is the scheduled starter.
