Nando's, the cable car, an ocean swim: All Blacks seek one Wellington local to play tour guide video

Wellingtonians tell us where they would take the All Blacks on a tour around the capital.

Rugby's finest are hiring one tour guide for a whirlwind trip of a capital highlight.

The All Blacks will be in Wellington on Monday for the upcoming French test, and are eager to employ a local for a tour of the city.

It will be a short tour: three unnamed All Blacks require a guide from 5pm to 6.30pm, and will garner a small taste of a favourite eatery, best kept secret, or spot in the CBD.

The All Blacks are seeking a Wellington tour guide for a promotional event. Whether Jordie Barrett will be one of the three All Blacks prevented from taking a wrong turn in the capital is not yet known.

Response to a prospective tour was mixed on the streets of Wellington, with only degrees of measurable enthusiasm on a brisk winter's day.

Student Joseph Hunt, 17, had a firm grasp on his ideal spot for his ideal All Black: he would take Nehe Milner-Skudder to Nando's.

"My friend works there, so maybe he'll serve us up some chicken."

Soon-to-be student Emily Cathro was less than thrilled at the prospect. She would decline any offer to spend time with the rugby players, preferring the company of her friends.

Store manager Sam Bell, who introduced himself as supporter of the English team, suggested Cuba St was a good venue.

"It's the up and coming place, it's happening, there's everything here."

Architecture student Akiwai Ngatai first suggested a trip to the Wellington Zoo, then the cable car - now set to cost $9 a trip.

She settled on the waterfront as a good spot, but became shy when asked what she might say to a trio of All Blacks.

The outlier was communications staffer Nick Butcher, who said he would take the All Blacks for either an ocean swim or surf.

"I do it all year round, and they play rugby all year round ... I think they would be surprised to be taken surfing in our uniquely cold Wellington weather."

The successful applicant will earn four tickets to the All Blacks v France match on Saturday, June 16.

Applications for the promotion closed at 12pm on Wednesday, and entrants had to  sign up to "Team All Blacks".
