Hussainabba was found deadnear Perdoor on May 30

Sharan P., secretary of Mangaluru division of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), said here on Tuesday that a high-level probe should be ordered into the death of the cattle trader, Hussainabba, at Shenarbettu near Perdoor in Udupi district on May 30.

Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Sharan said that Hussainabba died when he was involved in illegal transportation of cattle at Shenarbettu.

The police knew that Hussainabba had had a heart ailment and had also undergone bypass surgery. He died of heart ailment, he said.

The police had not received the post-mortem and Forensic Science Laboratory reports in the case. Yet, they registered a murder case against Bajrang Dal activists. This was totally wrong. Only a high-level probe would bring out the truth, he said.

Instances of cattle theft, illegal transportation of cattle and illegal functioning of cow slaughterhouses were on the rise in the coastal districts. The district administration in these districts had failed in preventing these illegal activities. Hence, the government was responsible for the death of Hussainabba. A special police team should be created to check cattle theft, illegal transportation of cattle and cow slaughter, he said.

The allegation that Hussainabba had died after an assault by Bajrang Dal activists was wrong.

The Bajrang Dal did not encourage violent acts and murder. Protection of cow was the responsibility of Hindu community and the Bajrang Dal was involved in a struggle to protect cows, he said.

The Bajrang Dal and VHP would support the protest to be held by the district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against cattle theft, illegal transportation of cattle and cow slaughter in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here on Wednesday, Mr. Sharan said.

Sunil K.R., district convener of the Bajrang Dal, Dinesh Hebri, Goraksha Pramukh, were present.
