Fake phone accessories worth Rs 1 lakh seized

Vadodara: Duplicate mobile accessories worth Rs one lakh were seized in a raid conducted by police at a mobile phone shop in Padra town on Wednesday.
Police also arrested the shop owner Laxman Rabari for violation of Copyrights Act and Trademark Act. Rabari is a resident of Bajwa in Vadodara city.

Police said that officials of a detective agency, which is authorized by Micromax Informatics Limited to act against dealers selling its duplicate products, had received information about Rabari selling fake products. Police and the detective agency team raided Rabari’s SM Mobile near Padra bus depot.

On checking, they found 275 duplicate batteries of various Micromax phone models, displays and LED screens. Rabari was booked in Padra police station. During interrogation, Rabari said that he was procuring the duplicate accessories from wholesale dealers in Ahmedabad and Mumbai. tnn
