Lion carcass found in Shetrunji River

A lion’s carcass was found floating in Shetrunji River near temple town Palitana on Wednesday. Forest officials suspect that the the body might have been flowing in the water for the past two or three days. The lion is believed to be around 10 years old. Forest department has sent the body for the post mortem. Chief Conservator of Forest, Junagadh circle, S K Mehta said, “We will know exact cause of death only after the postmortem, but prima facie we feel that the carcass is two to three days old.” Forest officials ruled out the possibility that the lion might have died due to the recent torrential rain in Amreli district. tnn
