VISAKHAPATNAM: Thunderstorm activity and heavy rain are likely to continue in the State for another 48 hours. The upper air cyclonic circulation over west central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh Coast now lies over northern parts of west central Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood. The North–South trough at 1.5 km above the mean sea level from the cyclonic circulation over south west Uttar Pradesh to west central Bay of Bengal off south Andhra Pradesh coast has been less marked.
On Tuesday, the highest rainfall of 5 cm was recorded at Gummagatta and Brahmasamudram in Anantapur district and Mandapalle in Chittoor district, 4 cm at Amarapuram and Penukonda in Anantapur district, Palasamudram and Tirumalla in Chittoor district and Salur in Vizianagaram district. Some parts of Vizianagaram, Kurnool and Kadapa received rainfall up to 2 cm.
“Continuing the same, thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds is very likely to occur at isolated places in all the districts of Coastal AP and Rayalaseema, heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Coastal AP and all districts of Rayalasema in the next 48 hours,” said IMD officials.
Fishermen of Andhra Coast are warned to be cautious while venturing into the sea. Many places recorded above normal temperatures of 40 degree Celsius. Highest 41.6 degree Celsius was recorded at Jangamaheswarapuram, followed by 41.4 at Masulipatnam, 41.1 at Vijayawada, 41 at Nandigama, 40.8 at Bapatla, 40.6 at Ongole, 40.5 at Nellore and 40.4 at Kavali.
