Persimmon weighing up paying all staff bonuses to defuse anger over exec pay

Housebuilding giant Persimmon is looking at paying bonuses to all staff as it seeks to defuse anger over its chief executive’s £109m payout.

The company’s chairman has apologised for the bonuses, which came about as the result of an unforeseen surge in the share price which was linked to the long-term incentive scheme.

One way to ensure other staff also benefited from the company’s success could be to give them all bonuses, said Marion Sears, a non-executive director at Persimmon and chair of its remuneration committee.
