This tale of two cities meets in the Ritz Spa with perfect balance, with guests and locals alike invited to discover Japan’s meditative empire via three signature treatments that feature iconic ingredients and traditions: green tea, bamboo and ancient healing techniques.
Inspired by the Heian period of peace and tranquillity, The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto embodies the Japanese aesthetic principle of Enso: connecting the body and mind through the Enso Circle motion. Fresh from the Spa’s 800-year-old ikeniwa (pond garden) surrounds, Kyoto-born Spa Specialist Miyuki Yasuda – whose name means “beautiful snow” – brings a rare purity to her craft. By connecting to each guest’s energy and feelings through subtle cues, she gleans how best to help them. A custodian of Japanese healing, she uplifts clients both physically and emotionally through treatments that draw on the country’s ancient healing traditions and therapeutic ingredients.
This summer, transport to the tranquillity of Kyoto, one of Japan’s most spiritual cities, with three beautiful signature experiences:
Arashiyama Kyoto Bamboo Massage – 50 or 80 minutes, EUR 180 or EUR 215 – Immerse in an ancient Japanese massage philosophy. Warm, healing oils combine with therapeutic bamboo sticks from Kyoto’s famous Bamboo Forest for a full-body therapy that targets fatigued legs and tight muscles caused by postural imbalances.
Kyoto Heritage Massage – 50 or 80 minutes, EUR 180 or EUR 215 – This traditional Japanese massage uses a variety of therapeutic techniques including kneading, acupressure, trigger point work and stretches to encourage the flow of energy along the body’s meridians, leaving one feeling physically and mentally at peace. This dry treatment is performed fully clothed for authenticity (guests will be provided with comfortable pyjama-style wear).
Kotoshina Facial Glow – 50 or 80 minutes, EUR 180 or EUR 215 – Using the best antioxidant-rich green tea from the renowned Uji region in Kyoto, this Japanese beauty secret recipe is the ultimate anti-ageing treatment. A bliss-inducing facial and massage that uses green tea seed oil to strengthen face muscles, boost oxygen flow and promote a radiant complexion.
