Trivago gave a riveting keynote address at this year's Hotel Summit which informed attendees on the travel trends in London and the South West.
Trivago's regional industry manager, Aly Thompson gave the address where she stated that all of the Trivago traffic searching for destinations in London (around 58%) comes from off-shore, while in the South West, international visitors accounted for just 7% of traffic.
Thompson elaborated on the top ten international markets that visitors enter when coming to the Greater London compared with visitors coming to the South West.
See below:
When it comes to the type of guests visiting London, 44% are business or weekday travelers, 47% are weekend travelers, and only 9% are holiday travelers. In regards to the South West, 39% are business or weekday travelers, 56% are weekend travelers and only 5% are on holiday.
“The great thing about booking behaviour shifting to online is the vast amount of data that is left behind,” said Thompson. “Hoteliers should be turning their attention to seeking such data to inform more efficient marketing and pricing strategies.”
The keynote also showed how hoteliers can take action in order to lure in these guests based on where they come from and what type of traveler they are while also comparing the difference in the average clicked prince between the two regions in both summer and winter.
