A man who allegedly drove a car into a house in Perth's south and then assaulted the occupant, leaving him in hospital with serious injuries, is the subject of a major police manhunt.

About 7:10am the man was spotted driving erratically near the intersection of Dixon Road and Mandurah Road East, in Rockingham.

Shortly afterwards the car crashed into a house on Barnes Street in Rockingham.

The driver then attacked the occupant of the house, leaving the man aged in his 60s with what police say are serious injuries.

The victim has been taken to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.

The driver was last seen heading towards Rockingham from a petrol station on Beach Street, in Kwinana beach around 8:20am.

According to police the man has been involved in a number of "incidents" in Rockingham, and his car, a white 2009 Nissan Navara utility, has sustained substantial front-end damage.

The licence plate was 1ECH672.

Authorities want to speak with Sameh Yassa Samuel Demitry in relation to this and other incidents in the area.

Mr Demitry was last seen leaving a property on Seabrook Avenue in Rockingham, wearing an aqua jumper and blue long pants.

Members of the public are being asked not to approach Mr Demitry but to call police on 131 444 if they see him or have any more information.
