A Central Bureau of Investigation constable and his accomplice were arrested on Monday for allegedly possessing 280 kg of marijuana, the police said on Tuesday.
They have been identified as Rajpal Yadav from Manesar village in Gurugram and his accomplice Ruchi Chauhan, who belongs to Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh.
“They were produced before a court on Tuesday. Ruchi was sent to jail. Rajpal was remanded to police custody for one day,” said Gurugram police spokesperson Ravinder Kumar.
A joint team of UP and Haryana Police arrested them following a tip-off. The UP Police team, led by Inspector Alok Kumar Singh, raided a house on the outskirts of Binola industrial area following a tip-off and arrested them.
The Gurugram police team, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Veer Singh, searched the truck parked outside the house and discovered 10 sacks with 120 packets of marijuana. The police claimed to have recovered 265 kg of marijuana from Rajpal and 15 kg from Ruchi.
A First Information Report has been registered under Sections 20 and 61 of the Narcotics Drugs, and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
Five persons were arrested with marijuana and a truck was seized at Hardoi in UP on June 3. The raid in Gurugram was part of investigation into the same case.
