Surat: Three members of a family were killed after the motorcycle on which they were travelling was knocked down by a speeding truck laden with sand in Sarthana area on Wednesday afternoon. Two persons,
including a six-year-old boy,
died on the spot, while a woman succumbed to injuries in a hospital.
The deceased were identified as Laljibhai Bhagwan Radadiya (52), his nephew’s wife Hetal (28) and her son Mantra (6).
A complaint in this regard was filed by Laljibhai’s nephew Vinay Radadiya at Sarthana police station. Vinay, a textile businessman, told the police that his wife Hetal and Laljibhai were going to inquire about Mantra’s school admission when they met with the fatal accident.
Police said the truck driver escaped leaving behind the truck after the accident. “We are investigating how the accident occurred,” a police officer of Sarthana police station said.
According to the police, Laljibhai and Mantra died on the spot, while Hetal died during treatment at a private hospital. The bodies were later sent for postmortem at the Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research (SMIMER).
