Bhopal: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress are locked in a battle on social media to show each other in poor light, through videos, just before the assembly election. Recently the ruling party reportedly released a video which depicts three Congress leaders Kamal Nath, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Digvijaya Singh as ‘villains’ and Shivraj Singh as ‘a hero’.
In the video, the dialogues of the South Indian films are dubbed over the old clippings of the Congress leaders. In its reply Congress also reportedly released a video related to the killing of farmers in police firing which shows Chouhan has been shown as infamous General Dyer who was responsible for the Jaliwanwala massacre.
A retired IAS officer SS Uppal who is looking after the poll-related legal work of the BJP said that an FIR would be lodged against this ‘Dyer’ video. The Congress has also complained to the cyber cell of MP police about the videos centered on their leaders. Since 2014 several videos on social media have been released to defame rival politicians. However, it is happening for the first time in MP at the heels of assembly election.
