MUMBAI: Two weeks after two unidentified men were caught on CCTV tampering with a crucial land acquisition file at the BMC HQ, a peon, who too was seen in the footage, has died. The peon, S Valmiki (42), from the development plan department, fell off a running local train between Vikhroli and Ghatkopar last Friday. Civic officials are speculating if it was suicide, an accident or foul play. Valmiki joined the DP department in 2014 and used to deliver or store files.
TOI has reported that an FIR was registered against unknown persons for tampering with the civic chief's remarks on a file pertaining to acquisition of a plot in Jogeshwari believed to be worth Rs 500 crore.
