Group of editorial workers wants to address pay and health-care benefits

A group of editorial employees at the New Yorker magazine is pushing to unionize and asking senior management to recognize the NewsGuild of New York as its collective-bargaining agent.

The group wants to address issues including pay, a lack of overtime for some staffers and health-care benefits for employees who are paid by a subcontractor and don’t receive them, according to Michele Moses, a web designer for the New Yorker involved in the organizing effort.
