CHENNAI: The number of women judgesin theMadrashigh court has touched the dozenmark, with the induction of
Justice P T Asha on Monday. Now the chartered Madras high court has maximum number of women judges in the country.
On Monday, Chief Justice Indira Banerjee administered the oath office to a total of seven additional judges, including Justice Asha. With their arrival, the sitting strength of judgeshasincreasedfrom 56 to 63, as against the sanctioned strength of 75.
Among others, Justice Nirmal Kumar, a Madras law college alumnus, initially worked in the Central excise department before enrolling as a lawyer in 1997.

Subramonium Prasad became an advocate on record (AoR) of the
Supreme Court in 1996. He served as TN additional advocate-general in the apex court before his elevation as a judge.

Anand Venkatesh completed his legal education in Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Government Law College in the city. He enrolled as an advocate in 1993. He has served as a resource person in TN Judicial Academy.
Justice GK Ilanthiraiyan obtained his law degree from theDr Ambedkar LawCollege, Puducherry. After having enrolled in 1994, he worked under advocate T Kanthaswamy.

Krishnan Ramaswamy is yet another alumnus from the Dr Ambedkar Law College, Chennai, enrolled as an advocate in 1994.
Justice C Saravanan is a graduate of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore.
