GURUGRAM: Two
Volkswagen Polo cars have been taken away at gunpoint in the city in a span of just 24 hours. Police have registered FIRs but are yet to zero in on any suspects.
In the first case, three men allegedly robbed a media house executive of his car at gunpoint near Rejang-la Chowk in
Palam Vihar area on Sunday night when he had stopped near a shop to buy a bottle of drinking water.
“When I returned to my car and sat on driver’s seat, three men came suddenly and pushed out me out of the car at gunpoint before fleeing with the vehicle. I raised an alarm and even took a lift from another vehicle owner to follow my car, but it was too late,” Singh, the vehicle owner, said in his complaint.
An FIR has been registered under sections 379A (snatching) and 34 (common intention) of IPC and sections 25-54-59 of Arms Act at Palam Vihar police station. “We are trying to identify the accused with the help of CCTV footage from nearby areas,” said inspector Vikram Nehra, SHO of Palam Vihar police station.
In the second case, one man took away another Polo belonging to a Chakkarpur resident on the pretext of a test drive in DLF-II area on Monday afternoon.
Parvej told cops that he had placed an advertisement on OLX to sell his car.
“I got a call on Monday morning from a man who showed interest in my car. Around 2.30 pm, I met him near CA market on MG Road. He asked me for a test drive. In the first time, I was with him. But then he again insisted for a second test drive alone. He did not return with my car,” Parvej said.
An FIR has been registered under Section 406 (criminal breach of trust) of IPC at DLF-II police station. “Crime units are on the job to nab vehicle lifters,” Shamsher Singh, ACP (crime), said.
