Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi said on Monday that the post-mortem and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) reports were still awaited in the death of the cattle trader, Hussainabba (62), at Shenarbettu near Perdoor in Udupi district on May 30.

After Hussainabba was found dead under mysterious circumstances under Hiriyadka police station limits, the police registered a case of unnatural death. However, this was challenged by Mohammed Ismail, younger brother of Hussainabba, who filed a complaint alleging that the latter and two others, who were transporting cattle in a multi-utility vehicle, were waylaid by activists of Bajrang Dal headed by Surendra Mendon alias Suri.

He said in his complaint that Hussainabba was assaulted by the activists and later died in the presence of the Sub-Inspector of Police, Hiriyadka police station, D.M. Kumar.
