Samuel Umtiti’s new release clause
Barcelona have inserted a staggering £439m release clause into Samuel Umtiti’s new contract to put off suitors, including Manchester United.
Before putting pen to paper on a fresh five-year deal, Manchester United had been eyeing a deal for the Frenchman.
Jose Mourinho was exploring a move and saw Umtiti as the perfect player to strengthen his defence.
But Umtiti’s new deal has come with an eye-watering buyout clause worth £439m which was confirmed by Barcelona’s president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
And upon signing the contract extension, Umtiti said: “I’m very proud to renew with Barca.
“From my very first day here, I felt like I was at home, and now I want to stay here for much longer.”
Messi discovers Chelsea plan
Chelsea are set to sign Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen after Lionel Messi was told about the transfer.
The Blues have been linked with Barcelona star Cillessen, with Thibaut Courtois expected to leave Stamford Bridge.
And Spanish news outlet Don Balon say Messi has been told the Holland international is primed to move to Chelsea.
Philippe Coutinho has reportedly tipped off the Argentina international.
Don Balon add, however, Chelsea may not get things their own way with Liverpool eyeing the Barcelona ace as a replacement for both Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet.

Clement Lenglet bid
United have made their move for Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet, according to reports in France.
Barcelona have been linked with the French defender but L’Equipe claim the Red Devils have now made an approach.
The 22-year-old left-footed centre-back has a release clause of £30.7m (€35m) and Jose Mourinho is said to be keen on bringing him to Old Trafford.
Lenglet, who has 10 France Under-21 caps, joined Sevilla from Nancy in January 2017 and has impressed.
Antoine Griezmann twist
Barcelona face pain in their pursuit of Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann with reports claiming the striker is closer to United than the Nou Camp.
Barcelona have been battling with the Red Devils for Griezmann ever since last summer.
Then, the France striker looked set to swap Atletico Madrid for Old Trafford, only to end up staying.
Barcelona have always appeared frontrunners in the race to sign Griezmann, despite United’s interest.
But Spanish outlet Diario Gol say the Atletico hitman is now moving away from Barcelona and closer to the Premier League.

Barcelona dream move...
Emmanuel Boateng has revealed he fancies a move to Barcelona or Manchester United.
Boateng started his career with Charity Stars in Ghana before heading to Europe with Portuguese side Rio Ave in 2013.
The hitman spent two years on the books at the Estadio do Rio Ave ahead of a switch to their top-flight rivals Moreirense.
A move to Spain followed last summer and last month Boateng bagged a hat-trick as Levante ended Barcelona’s hopes of going a whole La Liga season unbeaten.
"I always dream big, I see myself playing in one of the great clubs of the world in the next five years," said Boateng.
"Big clubs like Manchester United and Barcelona excite me."
