EU member-nations pledge to eliminate plastic use in embassies

The member-countries on Tuesday adopted a 'Green Pledge' to eliminate use of single-use products like bottle straws, stirrers, cups, and water at their respective embassies here and switching to eco-friendly material.

"The Green Pledge comes as part of the 'Beat Pollution Campaign' which is the theme of the World Day 2018 being hosted by India, the delegation of the and Embassies of the member-states," the EU said in a statement.

European Union to India, Tomasz Kozlowski, said: "We need to move from discussions to action. We need to reduce our to move towards a more circular economy."

Tomasz said that the EU delegation and members are committed not only to cut down on use but also to implement a number of green initiatives which help to promote a more sustainable lifestyle.
