Health Minister and Shiv Sena MLC Deepak Sawant was on Tuesday asked to attend the State Cabinet meeting as Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is yet to accept his resignation.
Mr. Sawant, who was elected from the Mumbai graduate constituency, has been denied a ticket for the June 25 Council poll. Instead, the Sena has chosen Vilas Potnis as its candidate.
“I have submitted my resignation as I will not be the party candidate for the election. I do not think it is right for me to retain the ministerial berth,” said Mr. Sawant.
According to party sources, Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray will wait and watch till Mr. Fadnavis accepts Mr. Sawant’s resignation.
