Apple CarPlay will soon get an update that will improve the system’s main feature.
Built-in car navigation systems can be fairly finicky at times or not have the same accuracy of effectiveness as those that are at our fingertips via our smartphones.
This is why systems such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are a great way of creating a seamless integration between our phone’s apps and the car.
It mimic a phones screen with app graphics such as messages, audio streaming services and navigation.
At the Worldwide Developers Conference 2018 (WWDC) Apple announced it would be improving CarPlay by allowing third party developers to work on navigation services for it.
What this means is soon Google Maps and Waze will become available to use via the in-car infotainment system.
Apple has previously allowed third party apps in other scenarios with CarPlay but its mapping and navigation has always been limited to just the company’s own Maps system.
While the company's Maps app is fine it may not be as popular and familiar wiht all its users.
