World Environment Day 2018: TV actors share ‘natural’ tips to save the environment

From saving water to throwing garbage in the dustbin, telly actors dole out tips to save mother nature as they celebrate World Environment Day on 5th of June.

Snigdha A Akolkar: I’m a great believer in the phenomena that small actions can make a big difference in the Environment. I like to do as much as I can to save the environment. I believe in not wasting clean water. I keep 2 bowls of water in the summer on my window for birds. I don’t use plastic carry bags. I always carry cloth bags. It saves us from creating lots of waste. I hate it when people throw anything on the road or in the sea instead of the dustbin. I planted and adopted 10 (Nilgiri, saag, and Neem) trees in a tree planting activity too. They are 7 yrs old now. I often encourage my fans also to take part in the same activities. I suggest to cut down on the use of paper, it’ll save millions of trees.

Akashdeep: I pray to mother nature every day. The Sun is the ultimate God for me. And as long as the sun supports nature, we will have life on this planet. I have taken the plastic ban very seriously this time as I’ve read so much on the effects of plastic on our environment. Conserving water is also very important for me. The resources on mother earth are not limitless hence we should show some respect and restraint. I do make it a point to be careful when it comes to wasting water and electricity. A beautiful planet sounds a utopian idea but it’s not that tough. Modijis initiatives are a kick start. I sincerely believe in the Swatch Bharat campaign.

Rohan Gandotra: Here are some easy tips to save the environment. Don’t waste water, switch off extra lights, avoid using plastic bags, recycle as much as you can. You can also add some plants to your home, use very little paper. These are the things which I try to do in my daily life.

Amal Sehrawat: I respect and care for mother nature a lot and try to protect it. I have totally discontinued the use of plastic and have also gifted myself an e-bike for local travel.

Mohammad Nazim: It is important to understand the impact of the environmental hazards that you, as an individual, are responsible for instead of focusing on the average effect of hazardous activities by society as a whole. I prefer carpools or public transport when travelling alone. I consciously choose eco-friendly products whenever possible. I make it a point to throw garbage in dustbins and also carry a small garbage bag in my handbags in case dustbins are not available.

Aniruddh Dave: I believe in using all products which are only environment-friendly. I don’t eat if anything is served in plastic plates. You can use cloth bags instead of plastic bags. You can start recycling plastic products. The initiative has to be taken by every individual. Planting trees and going green is one of the most important things that needs to be done for saving the environment.

Laksh: We can save the environment by starting at an individual level. We can start carpooling, also instead of cars. We can also start cycling on a daily basis. Also, PUC for all the cars and bikes is a must to keep a tap on pollution. We can plant saplings for a greener environment. Also, keep your surroundings clean, don’t throw wrappers and such on the streets.\

Vivian Dsena: I don’t use plastic bags at all. Whenever I shop I ensure I carry my cloth bags. I make sure that garbage is thrown at the right place. Wet and dry garbage should be separated and spitting on the road should be made to pay a fine. We can’t be polluting our roads. I am particular about getting PUC checked too regularly. Self-initiative is a must for every citizen. Taking care of our environment is our sole duty and we all must do our bit because after all, this Earth is our home.

Ayyaz Ahmed: Well, there are so many factors which are quite alarming and one of the most concerning ones are water and electricity. So, I request all my fans that try to save as much as water and electricity as possible. I don’t waste electricity and water because it’s going to be a major issue for our future generation if these burn out. Recently, I got to know that Capetown is one of the first cities to have no water.

Abraam Pandey: Environment is the surrounding in which we live. It is the source of life. Our whole life is dependent to the environment. It directs our life and determines our proper growth and development. Good or bad quality of social life depends on the quality of our natural environment. The need of human beings for food, water, shelter and other things depends on the environment around us. There is a balanced natural cycle exists between. environment and lives of human beings, plants and animals. Particularly if You will talk about me I love nature and I feel connected all the time , I love planting and I will request you all at least plant one tree in your entire life and trust me that is going to be an awesome contribution for the society, I agreed we are living in fast life where everyone is become selfish at nature point of view, there are very rare people who care for nature , and that ignorance is always reminding us by raising in temperature, tsunami, landsliding, and many more natural disasters, Scientists says planting a tree can give lives of hundred for many years .so why not taking a pledge of planting a tree. Less use of plastic bags.

Shivani Gosain: It is high time for all of us to do our bit to save the environment. I request all to please Say no to Plastic bags. Do not waste water. Do regular service of your vehicles to avoid pollution. Keep your house/society and city clean. Plant greenery around your house/society. I try my best to follow all this and do my bit to save our environment.

Sourabh Raaj Jain: So I do very basic things which m not sure it falls under saving the environment or not but it surely helps in not making it worse. At our home we segregate our daily kachra into two bins, one with all decomposable content and other will all the remaining stuff. Even outside home we make sure to use dustbins even if it means we have to keep the unwanted stuff with ourselves for a long duration, we do it.
