The Trump administration withdrew its proposal to rescind $252 million in funding that had been appropriated for the 2015 Ebola response.
President Donald Trump requested Congress rescind the funds on May 8, the same day the World Health Organization (WHO) announced an Ebola virus outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (see BioCentury Extra, May 9).
On May 22, the administration said the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) would contribute up to $8 million to help combat the Ebola outbreak.
